Kenosha Home Sump Pump Observation Checklist
Comparing pumping cycles helps explain a developing fault. Use dry, safe observation points and follow equipment instructions for any test. Leave electrical repairs and component adjustments to a suitable professional who can assess the installation.
Observe the basin
Look for an upright pump and objects that could obstruct the float.
Watch a full operating cycle
If the instructions permit and access is safe, add water and observe an entire pumping cycle.
Notice returning water
After shutdown, listen for returning water or repeated restarts. Either observation is useful to a provider assessing the valve and discharge arrangement; avoid opening pipe connections yourself.
Observe the outside outlet
From outside, observe the outlet during operation. Note weak flow, pooled water or visible obstruction without dismantling the pipe.
Review the backup equipment
Follow the backup manufacturer’s test instructions and note battery age, alerts and unusual behavior. If a check reveals a new problem, ask about a performance check.
